High Throughput Computing Cloud for Croatian Researchers Based on OpenStack and Ceph

Summary

Croatian national grid infrastructure (CRO NGI) is a distributed computer environment consisting of processor and data resources distributed over multiple sites within the Republic of Croatia. CRO NGI is used by Croatian researchers that have need for High Throughput Computing (HTC). CRO NGI is in process of migrating from grid middleware to cloud platforms OpenStack and Ceph. Cloud will provide more flexible environment for running applications such as big data analysis (e.g.
Hadoop, Spark), Jupyter and bioinformatics system Galaxy. This work will describe infrastructure setup and future plans.
